Have this insert installed by an avionics shop if you do not have
all the proper tools, are not a qualified technician or are not sure
you are capable of doing this job. |

Remove the faceplate from the radio. |

Tape up the lens area to protect it from
painting (both inside and out). Do not
tape the inside lip area if possible, as this should be painted. Also tape the backside to protect from
any paint over spray.

Die grind or file the raised text on
the lower section only until flush. |
| 5. |
Fill any dents with a plastic auto
body or model hobby filler. |
| 6. |
Lightly sand areas to be painted with a fine grit sandpaper for good paint adhesion. |

Paint the faceplate with a quality paint such as Krylon'sŪ
1613
Semi-Flat Black paint. |

After the paint has dried fully,
remove the protective tape. |

Scrape the paint from the trim areas
and the text by the white buttons. If using a hobby knife, insert
the blade in backwards and use the sharp edge to do the scraping. Or
clean up the trim areas by laying it face down on some 400 to 600 grit
sandpaper that is on a flat surface, sand it being careful to keep it
flat. |

Remove the double face tape backing from the new
insert. |

Place the new insert onto the faceplate. Reinstall faceplate
onto the radio. |

Tell all your aircraft buddies about Aircraft Engravers and place the enclosed sticker on the metal case for future
reference. |
